Birthday Post Part Two: The Party!

The big event took place at Elijah's grandparents house-- otherwise known as Grandy and Poppy. They very graciously hosted us, decorated their home with such cute creativity, and provided the perfect place for the celebrations! Us Browns, my parents, Grandy and Poppy and Elijah's family were all in attendance-- just a nice family get together! We enjoyed watching the kids play, Poppy and Bart gave wagon rides, Grandy made balloon creations, Shawn played guitar and sang favorite songs, we watched a "Wheels on the Bus" DVD, practiced our glueing skills with a bus craft that Kristen created for the kids, ate a yummy supper, and enjoyed Sho-Sho's delicious cake. All in all it was a precious evening of spoiling our kids with lots of special attention and watching them soak it all in with such enthusiam and delight!

PS. Tomorrow we leave to visit Rachel and Bryan and Corban in Nebraska! Needless to say I am VERY EXCITED! I don't know if I will get to post any while I am there but I'm going to try as I will be gone for over two weeks. But if I don't get around to it . . . . you'll understand why.

Happy Spring!

Birthday Post Part One: The Cake!

We celebrated Hannah's two year old birthday with the Normans, Elijah's family. As they both love the song "The Wheels on the Bus" so much we decided that would be the theme for their little party. My responsibility was the cake-- or I should say I volunteered for that because I knew my mom would be here and would love to decorate a cake for her granddaughter! :) The following pictures are of my mom in action with the help of some of the rest of us. With a little research online and my mom's amazing patience and ingenuity for such projects we ended up with the cutest school bus cake for our two little toddlers to enjoy!

Shawn helped sculpt and shape the cake. (Notice Hannah peeking in on the action!)

Icing the bus! (I helped do a little of this too.)

This is the only other thing I did-- I decorated Hannah's "face." :)

Mom hard at work and me . . . well, I'm just watching and as usual am amazed at Mom's patience!

The Finished Product!

Elijah on the bus!

Thank you so much Mom for creating such a fun memory for all of us!
Check back soon for photos of the actual party and the birthday boy and girl! (I know, it's been over a month since their birthday but at least I'm getting to it now, right!?)

Just wanted to share . . .

The GOOD news! Shawn got a brand new ipod to replace his before-mentioned water damaged one FOR FREE today! We are so excited. This is very unexpected. We thought we were going to have to pay for the damaged one to be repaired. This may seem silly to some of you that I'm posting this, but to those of you who know Shawn-- you know what a big deal this is!

Yeah! Can we praise God for new ipods!? :)

P.S. Do you enjoy the Smilebox slide shows/scrapbooks or are they a bother to you? Just wanted to know, because I sure have fun creating them and will continue to do so unless I hear otherwise from you guys!

Sweet Family Reunion

Enjoy the "scrap book" below! I'll let the pictures tell the story!

Peek-a-boo!

So, you think we've been hiding ourselves away from the world . . . . perhaps in a cabinet,

Or maybe behind a curtain somewhere . . . .

But I promise you we haven't!

Come along and see what we've been up to! We've been busy, busy busy!

Installing a new dishwasher--which means for about a month I was busy washing dishes by hand. I know I have no reason to complain about handwashing dishes, but I sure do LOVE having a dishwasher! It really does save a lot of time.

(At least Shawn was trying to install a dishwasher. It takes a lot of patience to work with this little helper! :))

We also had about three weeks of figuring out what to do with a "diseased" computer, and then getting it repaired.
Things usually come in three's and unfortunately the third thing to break was Shawn's ipod. So we've been in mourning for a water damaged ipod and are in the process of getting that repaired. Hopefully our woes of broken appliances/technological devices are over for now. . . .
In the meantime though we've had lots of good things happen. We enjoyed precious time with Babu and Sho-Sho . . . . don't worry more pictures of that to come!

We celebrated Hannah's second birthday with Elijah and his family! (Also more pictures to come.)

We've enjoyed playing with all the new birthday toys. Thank you friends and family for such thoughtful gifts!

We joined a gymnastics class which Hannah loves!

And had a little time in between to pick out our own choice footwear!

Not to mention the fact that I am now on the substitute list at Minds in Motion and have picked up extra hours almost every week for the past month which leaves me little computer time during the week. :(

Shawn has also applied for and been hired for a new job! He is now a music teacher with the company The Music Playhouse! He begins teaching March 21. This is a job in addition to his full time work. We're just needing a boost to our finances and this opportunity presented itself at the right time. It is teaching a parent/child class with children ages infant through four years old. Hannah and I enjoyed the program last fall and since we were still on the mailing list, that is how we found out about the job opportunity. I am really excited for Shawn. I know he will be so good at this job and maybe it will grow into something that he can do more of, but for now it will provide a much needed source of extra income. Please pray for him, though as he adjusts to a new job and to having less time for himself on the weekends. That is going to be really hard for him.

Well, now that I've caught you up briefly on what's been going on with the Browns, I'll update you with a more detailed post about Hannah's birthday and my parent's visit probably next week! Hannah just woke up from her nap and we've got to get outside and enjoy this beautiful Spring weather!

Thanks for being patient with us! Keep checking back . . . I'll show up eventually.
