Hannah's Birthday!

At the beginning of February we had so much fun celebrating Hannah's fourth birthday. Turning four years old seems like such a milestone.  She is no longer a toddler or any where close.  She's officially a preschool kid! Hannah is so proud of being four.  My mom and dad were here to help celebrate and of course we had our traditional birthday party with Elijah.

On Saturday we enjoyed celebrating Hannah and Elijah together at a storybook themed birthday party.  Bill and Andrea Nelson (Elijah's Grandy and Poppy) were so gracious to open up their home to us all to host the party.  We enjoyed an incredible spread of fruits and vegetables and chips and dips and our kids all time favorites of chicken nuggets/fingers and macaroni and cheese. 

We all dressed up as favorite children's books characters.  Our family went as Fancy Nancy's fancy family when they go out to eat in the original story, with Hannah of course as the star--Fancy Nancy.  (If you haven't read these books they are GREAT!) :)  Curious George and the man in the yellow hat, the Grinch, Miss Frizzle from the Magic Schoolbus series, Farmer Brown from Click Clack Moo, Fern and Wilber, and the Cat in the Hat all showed up at the party too!

A highlight of the party was the cake "expotition".  We hid the cake and then the kids had to follow the directions given by storybook characters in order to find it.  Kristen and I had come up with directions for Elijah and Hannah to follow in order to get their cake and Kristen with great finess turned each clue into fun little rhymes.  The kids really enjoyed the game and of course were thrilled when the game resulted in their birthday cake!  My mom and I had decorated the cake to look like a book.  It said "Once upon a time there was an amazing and wonderfully curious little boy. Happy Birthday Elijah! And an exquisite, splendiferous little girl. Happy Birthday Hannah!"  It had a Curious George figure to represent Elijah and a Fancy Nancy figure to represent Hannah on it.  Though it was very simple I was proud of it. :)
