what we decided about the Dominican Republic.
Our summer was full of many conversations with various leaders from our church, with family and with mentors about our decision to pursue missions in the Dominican Republic. As it was such a roller coaster of emotions and quite an extended process I just refrained from writing until we felt completely sure and at peace about the conclusion we have finally come to.
Through these conversations, and prayers set within the context of Shawn's continuing struggle with various health issues and his deep desire to finish recording his first album, we have reached the conclusion that though we were/are passionately moved by the kids and their situation in Rio San Juan, we cannot answer that call. This decision is very bittersweet but we finally feel a deep peace that staying here in Nashville is doing what is best for our family and that we are right where God wants us to be for now. This does not mean missions is out of the picture for us completely but it is for at least the next couple of years.
Thank you so much to those of you who prayed for us during this process. We appreciate it more than we can say! (Sorry this is so belated.)
